The Settings Menu

  • In the General tab:
    • Update the Time Zone (use “New York” in Florida)
    • Click the “Save Changes” button
  • In the Reading tab:
    • Click the checkbox if you want a regular home page. Use the pull-down menu to select the “Home” page you’ve already created.
    • THIS IS TEMPORARY:
      • Activate the “Discourage search engines from indexing this site.” option. We’ll renable this option when we publish the site.
      • At this point, we often install a plugin to put the site into maintenance mode.
    • Remember to click the “Save Changes” button
  • In the Permalinks tab:
    • Select one other than the first option.
    • We recommend either “Month and name” or simply “Post Name.”
    • Click the “Save Changes” button
